Batten Kill, or Battenkill, or the Battenkill River, is an approximately 50-mile river rising in Vermont that flows into New York and is a tributary of the Hudson River. As "Kill" means river, it is grammatically redundant to call it the "Battenkill River". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batten Kill
